Prayer request

Well, my due date is coming up this Saturday Oct 13th. I'm asking you all for your prayers for a safe delivery. My sister in law delivered my nephew 3 weeks ago and ran into some complications that place my nephew in NICU for a few days. Everything is fine now thank God. But, it's left me a little apprehensive for my own labor and delivery. So, I'm asking that our family and especially our baby will be in your prayers this week. I will be sure to post an update when the newest Kluge makes his debut!
Love to all,
Athena and baby
PS it is a boy and we don't have a name yet....pray also that we're inspired with a name soon!

Because Babies are Just so Cute

Last night Dave, Ben, Katy, Josh, and I (Kristina) went out for dinner with the Roy family (Ian, Cathleen, and Gemma) since they were passing through town. I just had to post this picture of Gemma since. . . well. . . babies are just so cute!

Update on Athena

Hello RPCers!

After graduating from RPC I moved down to Southern California (San Bernardino area) to live near Tim while he finished up school. He graduated in the winter of 2005. I worked as a Starbucks barista, and then at an insurance company. Tim and I got married June 24, 2006. Tim has been teaching as a full time high school Geometry teacher and I am a substitute teacher for the same school district.

At church we're both active as LifeTeen core members (Tim recently resigned as Youth Minister) I volunteer at a Pregnancy counseling center as an in house counselor and teach a confirmation class once a week. (They're getting confirmed in 2 weeks. Yay!!)

As many of you know, we're expecting the arrival of our first baby Oct 20th. As of this date I'm about 17 weeks along and looking pretty pregnant already. We find out the sex of the baby June 8th. I'll be sure to keep you updated on all the exciting milestones.

We'll probably be living down here for another two years as Tim finishes up his credential. But after that we plan to migrate back to the beautiful Northwest. Hopefully that will make it easier to visit RPC more often.

My time and education at RPC is still so valuable to me. I believe I've received many graces and strengths in those four years to help me face the challenges of life outside of RPC. Thank you to the Hamels, all the staff and the students that made it such a wonderful experience. I feel that the friends I made at RPC will be friends for life. All because of our love for God and the truth.

Love,
Athena Kluge (k-loo-gee)

Free T-Shirts!

A free snazzy new RPC t-shirt will be sent to the first
five people who make a post on this blog!

We have some charming dark blue RPC golf shirts for the guys and beautiful shirts for the ladies. Come on. . . you know you want one. . . We'll even pay the postage! Now, that's a deal!

Joining the ranks of the RPC Alumni

It's hard to believe that I'm actually graduated, and a proud member of the elite RPC alumni club now. Two weeks ago, on April 28th, 2007 I walked across a stage and received my degree. Well, not actually my degree but rather a piece of paper that basically said "Thanks for being a part of the TWU community." Oh well, beggers can't be choosers. I'm sure the degree will come soon.

And so here I am, with my B.A. in Modern Languages and Christianity & Culture hanging out at RPC. They can't get me to leave. I'm doing admissions and recruitment work for the college and enjoying listening in on Dr. Stackpole's summer course lectures with my office door open. If any of you are in the area and want to stop by and say hello, visitors are always welcome!

I know that there are all sorts of exciting things going on among the ranks of RPC alumni and former RPC students. Athena is expecting a baby (yay!). Leah's running away to Spain to find herself a Catholic Spanish prince (yes, they do have a royal family in Spain and they are Catholic!) . . . oh, and to learn Spanish as well. Nicole is a happy newly wed (congratulations!). . . wow, some people have exciting lives!

The purpose of this blog is to keep us all in touch. I'd love to see it active and working. So, here's the deal, if you're a former RPC student and would like to stay in touch with this close-knit community of "dynamic Catholic leaders" send me an e-mail and I'll set you up to be able to make posts on this blog.

Update from Grace Williams

Hello Jennifer (or whoever is in charge of this!),

I wanted to post an announcement that I (Grace Williams) will be entering the Catholic Church on November 1st - All Saint's Day! I am so glad that this is happening and am eternally greatful to everyone at RPC who played a part in my journey to the Church. I will be confirmed at St. Catherine of Sienna's parish in Denver, CO. Fr. Sebastien of the Community of the Beatitudes will be confirming me. The church and the community here are beautiful and I am counting down the days until I can receive a strengthening of the Holy Spirit and our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Again, thank you all for the role you have played in this journey. My life (and the lives of many others!) will never be the same. Words cannot express...
In the peace and joy of Christ,
Grace <><

(Grace, my apologies for taking so long to post this. Everyone at RPC was praying for you on November 1st, and I personally ran into many people who were so excited for you. May God bless you in this Advent and Christmas season and throughout the coming years. - Jen Friesen)

Inaugural Post

Welcome to the Redeemer Pacific College Alumni Blog.

As you all know we are a small college, just starting out, so a full-blown alumni program just isn't possible at this time. However, taking advantage of the free services here at blogger.com, this is our first attempt to provide you with an online forum that will (hopefully) allow you to tell us what you are up to and reconnect with former classmates.

This blog is set up so that anyone can add comments to posts, but only the blogmaster can post. If there is something you would like to post on the website, please send your post to "rpc(dot)alumni (at) yahoo(dot)ca". I (or whoever ends up taking over the task of blogmaster - any takers?) will make sure it gets on the blog.

Also, please check out the links at the side of the blog, especially "College in the Cottage", the unofficial blog of RPC. And if you are in the area, feel free to drop by and check out the new renovations!

Let the Games Begin!
